This reminds of the Stones in Reggae mode; the same rock steady groove, the same rub-a-dub, it is all "Cherry O baby" without the swing.
I don't quite know what Mick Jagger is playing at. If this is his idea of a makeshift Stones, the other guys, yeah Marley, Stone, Stewart, Rahman, are playing out of their weight class. Jagger's vocals are better than anything on A Bigger Bang. he has a raspy toughness and though Mick claims that he loves sharing the lead, he really isn't.
"Miracle Worker" -prosaic lyric, prosaic rhythm (even the frill that opens it is dodgy, prosaic Toasting and Joss Stone. The one woman definition of mediocre. Really, does anybody buy into Joss Stone as a great blues singer? She just isn't. She can sing, sure she can, but nobody thinks she is the real thing.
Rahman? Is he actually there? What is he doing? And Dave Stewart is a good guy and the producer to the stars. He is like Ronnie Wood without the drugs. But what is he giving to the procedures exactly? What could a Sly and Robbie do to the proceedings.
So you're left with a great Jagger vocal.
