This cover is so horrible that at first I thought it was a joke. When you do your own shoutbacks a song sounds cheap. "its a cruel (its a cruel!)", for $5.00 you could get some dude off the street to do that for you instead it sounds like a masterbatory jerk off mess.
Muscially, someone forgot to tune the guitar. The solo is laughable and childlike- did Superchunk use that $5.00 to get a year one guitar student to handle that?
Why am I being so hard on them? Simple- they're better than this. This is a terrible example of a great bands work. Im not so sure I can even handle their crap anymore if they find this releasable.
Bananarama, not the most dynamic band a certain legend music critic referred to them as groupies I believe, but they had a couple danceable tunes and I love the collaboration with Fun Boy Three but if I were them Id be denying to ever have known the tune 'Cruel Summer' to not run the risk of being associated with this horrid version.
