They warned us at Warped Tour.
They told us it was coming we pretended it wasn’t going to.
Even when Mary Magpie interviewed lead singer Brian Dales, we dismissed it… no way.
Well, its happened.
The Summer Set are now streaming their version of Taylor “pappy gotta pick up’ Swift”s, “Fifteen”.
So how is it?
Twangy for sure. Acousticy, and somewhat awkward to be done by a man, although he is hitting a high tones like a good woman can.
I’m not blown away.
I don’t think I’m supposed to be, I’m not 15. I suppose its cute enough but the lyrics are lame the guitar is a bit sloppy and well I hated the original so the only salvation to me for this one would have been to punk it out
Which totally didn’t happen.
If you’re going to do a cover song- own it, don’t replicate it.
Swift nailed it enough to make it signature, doing a clone is karaoke.
