On September 25th, you can get the new Barbra STreisand album Release Me on vinyl, on October 9th, the Cd and Mp3 will be , er, released.
I don't know much about the new album except this superb cover of Randy Newman's "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today" was actually recorded in 1970 as part of the Stony End album but kept in the closet till now. I have no idea why. The album was Barbra goes pop with Joni Mitchel, Laura Nyro and indeed a different Randy Newman track, "I'll Be Home". I have zero kick against the album, though even if it was sniggered at at the time.
Time has been tremendously kind to this outtake, and I wish she had taken "I'll Be Home" out and put this in. It heralded the beginning of her pop in trade which would reach its nadir with the Barry Gibb duets.
But that was years later. Enjoy this now.
