Some phenomenons do not travel well and Status Quo joins the likes of the Jam as a band who never reached the US sound intact. Over here, you can’t tell your Quos from your Procol Harums. Sort of mid-level psychedelic rock band from the sixties with a coupla hits and not much more. with Quo it is all “Pictures Of Matchstick Men” and maybe, if you’re adventuress, “Green Tambourine”. But at ground zero, the UK, Francis Rossi and his merry men have been at it since NINETY SIXTY TWO, a sort of lowbrow hard rock plodding band who weathered everything from soft rock to punk to EDM with aplomb, and with their 31st album Aquostic (Stripped Bare) 11 weeks on the charts, they’ve reached 500 weeks in the UK charts.
“To be celebrating 500 weeks in the Official Album Chart – that’s almost ten years,” Status Quo’s Francis Rossi told the Official Charts Company. “It feels incredible. It’s almost surreal that this band that we formed all those years ago could reach this point. It’s a tangible achievement though, and a milestone we’re very proud of.”
Here are how their peers have fared and really Queen? I guess I will never be the fan the rest of the world is when it comes to Queen. I mean, really can they be spoken of in the same sentence as the Beatles?
Queen – 1,457 weeks
The Beatles- 1,406 weeks
Elvis Presley -1,364 weeks
