Bad 25 is the documentary being prepared by Director Spike Lee. The film is details the making of Michael Jacksons LP ‘Bad’. Through his research Lee discovered a lot about the King of Pop. Can we take a moment to just state how stupid the ‘King of Pop’ title is? Everyone seemed to accept that as a fitting title but I find it rather bland. Elvis the ‘King of Rock and Roll’? Who’s the king of punk rock, electronic, rap… it’s a whole damn monarchy of stupid.
Anyway.. back to Bad 25. The releases will include a repackaged version of the album and documentary and unreleased demo tunes, remixes and concert footage. All of the essentials for a hefty price tag on a recycled product. Made for the diehard fans who simply cannot get enough of Jackson (and there are many)
Spike Lee spoke to MTV about the project and had a few interesting quotes about Jacksons inner workings. : "I learned that, number one, he was very self-motivated. Even though it was an impossible task, Michael wanted 'Bad' to outsell 'Thriller'. And everywhere he'd go, he'd put up signs, write on mirrors in bathrooms; '100 million.' "
"He always wanted to surpass what he had done previously and 100 million albums sold. He was determined to do that."
Why this is a profound thought is beyond me. Don’t we all aspire to greater things? Jackson is often portrayed as a hot mess but no matter how messy he may be it takes cunning and good management to achieve the success he obtained. Even the ability to hire the right people is an impressive skill. Then again he should have hired a better doctor for that administration of Propopol, but then again that’s a whole ‘nother topic.
OK, “Bad25”, Spike Lee’s cash in on the dead is due out next month.
