Here is something I never expected to write. Sparks- on tour in the US? It’s hard to believe these legends are still around. Now I am not going to lie, if you thought their appearance was disturbing 35 years ago, you’re going to have nightmares now but, guys! SPARKS IS TOURING THE UNITED STATES!
A brief but bitchin’ tour hitting the only cities that matter cuz seriously why waste your energy on places like Indiana? Ron and Russell Mael are back and this has got to be a fabulous event. I am pretty shocked. Let’s see these guys have been around since the early 70s, and had a little dash on MTV when it actually had music. The wide eyed brothers were creepy in a pedo sorta way but there is no disputing their unique sound (and look!)
Proudly boasting “no band and no computers,” the brothers are describing the upcoming outing as featuring new sets with material drawn from the group’s extensive work. Cmon its been decades. Ever hear ‘Big Boy’?
“For those who saw the tour in its first incarnation, we promise to keep the intensity up, the two-hands, one mouthiness up, the no computeriness up, and also perform a bunch of tunes not played on the original tour,” Russell Mael said.
Here are the only dates you’ll need.
Oct. 28 – New York, N.Y., Webster Hall
Oct. 30 – Boston, Mass., Brighton Music Hall
