I'm a kid of the 80's lets face it its pretty damn obvious. Joe Jackson was one of the coolest artists of the decade. Amazing live unstoppable recorded and I had a horrible crush on him until that dumb ass 'Is She Really Going Out With Him" stuff that got far too much airplay.
Prior to that tripe were some wonderful, danceable songs that to this day get me out of my chair and on my desk. Yes, I really do stand on my desk, no clue why but I do, don't judge.
The entire "I'm The Man" album kicked major 80's ass (released October 1979). But this song most definitely stuck with me longest. I took my sisters bike and drove about 3 miles to go buy this album and it was worth it AND worth getting in trouble for stealing her bike. As a teenaged angster singing this to my parents to the middle aged angster singing it to my peers. Just fantastic bass and lyrics full of passion and an emotion we have all shared.
I'm rediscovering Joe Jackson, its time you do the same. Skip the "Steppin Out", crap and travel further back.. You'll find a Weezer like neurotic gorgeous man with a wicked chip on his shoulder. Gotta love that.
