Sly is one silly dude. From the streets he rises more eccentric than ever. We have written about his world numerous times and wondered aloud how someone so infamous could end up living in a camper.
Legends die hard and our romanticized images are tough to tarnish. C’mon y’all this is Sly Stone of Sly and The Family Stone- what the hell, if that isn’t a public service announcement to stay off the junk I dont know what is.
Sly spoke with Alexis Petridis of the Guardian UK “You know what? I’m looking for albino musicians. My feeling about it is that it could neutralize all the different racial problems.
“To me, albinos are the most legitimate minority group of all. All races have albinos. If we all realize that we’ve all got albinos in our families, it’s going to take away from the ridiculous racial tension, if you’re black or you’re white, blah blah blah. That’s why I’ve been trying to look for albino musicians and organize a group of people that are going to be right. That’s what I’ve been rehearsing for. People will see us, all of us together ‘ a real family, an albino family. People will get happy when they see that! People have got to be happy for that.”
Sly also said that he had “a thousand new songs on his hard drive” so, who knows, there may actually be new Stone music at some time in the future.
So remove racism, Sly is gonna hunt down albino’s. Ya cant help but love the madness of Sly, but is it mad? Its a fabulous angle its a great way to get some press and it shows some initiative (although bizzaro!) to kick start his life again.
Sly will be playing at New York’s BB Kings on October 5th for just two shows at 8pm and 1030. No word on the hue of his band as of yet.. stay tuned let’s see if he can conjure up his dream team.

Sly has always had a multi racial family and the biggest fro’ of all time… I wish him well.
