"Skyfall" Won The Oscar For Best Song -But What Does Oscar Know?

I know I never have a good word for Adele, but really it's too late to stop now and the horrendous "Skyfall" is big feelings for people who have forgotten how to feel and need constant prompts to remind them how.Was it always like that at the oscars? well, let's take a look… here are the best and that break from 1991 to 2013 (more or less), that's modern pop. To put it another way, they peaked in 1936.

1935 – The Lullabye Of Broadway – Woah, from the big white way  via Busby and a masterpiece of course – Grade: A+

1936 – The Way You Look Tonight – beat out "pennies from heaven" and "I've Got You Under My Skin". You're kidding me, right? – Grade: A+

1938 – Thanks For The Memory – Gave Bob Hop his theme song – Grade: B+

1939 – Over The rainbow – They sure got that one right. Great year for movies, by the way, music? less so – Grade: A+

1948 – Buttons And Bows – Classic Bob Hope Western song – Grade: A

1951 – High None (No Don't Forsake Me Oh My Darling) – Story western song – Grade: A-

1964 – Chim Chimn Chee ree – "What's New Pussycat" never stood a chance – Grade: A+

1966 – Born Free – Probably to make up for being unable to give it to him for the Bond Theme – Grade: B+

1969 – Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head – Bacharah and David have no Mary Poppins to contend with

1970 – For All we Know – The Carpenters!!!! – Grade: A-

1971 – Theme from Shaft – No it isn't James brown but at least it's Issaac Hayes! – Grade: A

1985 – I Just Called To Say I Love You – Stevie Wonder is fine but there was  nine years of dross… Grade: A

2002 – Lose Yourself – Eminem – Good rap song – Grade: B+
