Born Sinner – J. Cole – At over an hour in length including two skits and two great songs, and filler after filler, this is not as good as J. Cole’s debut by a long shot. If you don’t like Yeezus, is this bland stuff what you want instead? It has its moments though rumors that Cole rushed this out to compete with Kanye make no sense – B
Watching Movies With The Sound Off – Mac Miller – Two years after “Donald Trump”, he isn’t the original white collegiate kid he once was. This is more the sound of modern R&b with Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler The Creator and a cast of dozens adding half hearted raps on top of strong dark beats – B
Anthem – Hansom – A classic rock trio who write old fashioned power pop with a taste of soul on the side. This is another pretty good outing for the former boy wonders, now modern cult band – B
Talk A Good Game – Kelly Rowland – And talk a good game and talk a good game. An r&B confessional which is sorta like reading your best friends diary: faintly shameful – B-
Kveikur – Sigur Ros – More wallpaper for the mind and ears only a little louder than usual. Good for 10 minutes chosen and random and then a deep sleep – C
Fashionably Late – Falling In Reverse – The sort of emo meet hardcore album that Mary Magpie will call the greatest album ever released for around about the next 36 hours, before losing interest. And she would be right – B-
Re-Mit – The Fall – Business as usual with a strange rockabilly sound and a funny swipe at dance music – B
