You have to love Sinead O’Connor but you have to recognize she is clearly outspoken and has openly criticized half the planet, from the Pope to U2 to Miley Cyrus… and now it’s Kim Kardashian’s turn, an easy target if you want my opinion, because the Kardashians represent everything that is wrong with our culture. Still, you don’t see a lot of people saying what Sinead wrote on Facebook page, reacting to the provocative picture of Kim on the cover of Rolling Stone:
‘What is this c**t doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died. Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be fucking horrified.
Yeah, it is your typical KK pic, all fake boobs out, frigid wrinkle-free face with that same glam smile she has on another million of pics, posing as the whore-y pin-up of the day,… is it a scandal she is on the cover of Rolling Stone? Barely, Rolling Stone has become so irrelevant for music these days, that almost anyone has been on the cover. From the Boston Marathon bomber, to Kim’s husband dressed as the Christ, from assassins to martyrs, from serial boy bands to pop stars of the day, we don’t really care who is on the cover of Rolling Stone anymore, and who is still buying this rag anyway?
But just two things about Sinead’s comment: Simon Cowell was so 5 years ago, and why is she mentioning Bob Dylan? Because he represents what music should be? Because he is Sinead’s music compass? And why would he be horrified? Sinead is horrified, Bob could not care less.
Sure Kim Kardashian is totally irrelevant for music, even if she is Kanye’s children mother, but boobs sell, and Rolling Stone has always had this porn tendency. More than ever, they are desperate to sell copies, they have lost a lot of credibility journalism-wise but they are still printing hard copies of their mag and I wonder why… at the end, Playboy cover girl Kim will sell far more copies than shaved-head cover girl Sinead. It is so obvious and we didn’t need to be reminded by Sinead that sex sells
