Over a year ago we had a chance to interview Sparks the Rescue. Fearless Records kids who were playing a tiny venue on a cold snowy night. When we walked away I felt they were on their way to something grand. A genre over saturated with cute boys and whining for love lyrics well, I guess you can never be sure.
Their latest single " Shes a Bitch and I'm a Fool" wins song title of the year if you ask me. The song is catchy as hell and it got me thinking… why haven't they cracked it yet?
What do bands like All Time Low have that others like Mayday Parade or Sparks The Rescue don't?
Management and promotion of course but they all have attractive lead singers, catchy lyrics simple sing along melodies, yet All Time Low is actually going to 'make it'
Sparks should.
Sparks actually should have already. They should be headlining larger venues more girls should be sporting their swag and well everyone should know a lyric or two from one of their songs.
This is fluffy cotton candy music, its going to do nothing to provoke thought, its not going to make you fist pump in agreement.
This song despite the brilliant title is not lyrically magnificent but it does the job with no stress and no mental anguish. No one is yelling at you, no won is seducing you and no one is thrusting.

You can call this bland if you'd like but in a world full of static sometime its just nice to kick back and float on something simplistic. Sparks The Rescue is a band who should be way more popular than they are.
Their new lp "The Worse Thing I've Ever Been Cursed With" (dumb ass too long title btw) is due out on May 10th. I will be sure to check them out on their next tour go round, if only for a pop good time.
