Proving once again that if you set anything to music the people will come. Right? In 1969 The Scooby Doo,Where Are You? cartoon hit the airways. Telling a tale of a van full of teens solving crimes under spooky circumstance. I think there were about 20 episodes involving abandoned amusement parks. The cartoon was even made in to a movie where Freddy Prinze JR sported the ascot and portrayed leader and van driver Freddy.
I gotta say, I was a huge fan. Shaggy wasn't a stoner in my eyes, 'Scooby snacks' were really just dog treats. The innocence of childhood made it all the more fun. The double meanings I'm sure kept the parents engaged. So what now? How about we set a classic to music and make a touring company out of it?
I'm not on board with this concept but I dont have small children. I know children who will be stoked about this. I see so many of children's shows being taken to the stage and it always comes across as sort of cheesy. Dora The Explorer, The Wiggles, Sesame Street, where there is a guilt trodden parent there is a money making scheme to be had. With these shows comes so much souvenir merch that you can literally triple if not quadruple earnings just by setting up flashy merch in the concourse.
Brace yourselves cuz the new , “Scooby-Doo Live! Musical Mysteries” is out for your wallet and coming right at you. You can anticipate mad marketing ushering it in so your children can be in a frenzy for months.
What I love most about the dates? The point blank error for Boston MA. I even cut and paste it cuz it cracks me up. Apparently this is the first mystery of the tour…
