Everybody knows that Twitter is the main source of information these days, and here is another example. Scissor Sister frontman Jake Shears posted a series of Tweets this past week that got the attention of the Antiquiet and other media outlets.
First, he wrote ‘I just got to do something insanely cool with some fierce Queens’, then ‘Jake Shears + Queens of the Stone Age = satanic cabaret’, followed by this strange and spooky picture with, of course, Queens of the Stone Age, and there was even a second one showing Shears with QOTSA’s frontman in front of a what it seemed to be a X-rated picture, and the comment ‘After singing together for awhile, Josh Homme and I settled down to watch some educational films.’
These guys seemed to have some quality times together indeed, but we can now be sure that the Scissor Sister’s guy is a guest on the new QOTSA album, along with Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor and Nick Oliveri, and who else? Announcing these special guests one by one is actually a very effective way to promote the album, which has been already very much talked about whereas we don’t even have a release date… but wait a minute, Grohl, Reznor and Oliveri I get it, but the SS with QOTSA?
Oh but everything makes sense now: You might remember that Josh Homme and his badass-detached style did a crazy-funny infomercial for Scissor Sisters’ new album ‘Magic Hour’ a few months ago, and Shears has confessed his love for the stoner rock band in 2011, declaring to the Daily Star:
‘It'd be a dream collaboration, because I’m a huge fan. I really, really want to sing on the next QOTSA album. I'm desperate for it.[…] And he's [Homme] a fan of our band too, as unlikely as that might be. I think he's a genius, a genuine rock hero living among us.’
Okay, but it looks like a collaboration between the Bee Gees and AC/DC!!! Except that both bands have already embraced a sort of queen side one way or another.
