Scissor Sisters cancel European Tour

Scissor Sister have cancelled their European tour for financial reasons? Er?
This is off their website: “We’re sorry to announce that Scissor Sisters have been forced to cancel their upcoming shows on mainland Europe. Due to funding issues, it has become impossible to make the tour work financially. The band are very disappointed, but it is beyond anyone’s control. We’re saddened to discover that we are unable to play our scheduled tour dates through Europe. We’re genuinely sorry about this frustrating situation. We’ll try to make it up to you and return to these beautiful cities soon.”
Yuck.
SS sold out terminal 5 here during the summer and if it had been at, say Radio City Music Hall, I would definitely have made the trip. i called my friend Steve Diamond and asked about the stage setting. he said it was nothing fancy, a spectacular light show but  that’s about it.
Their last album was the completely excellent Night Works, which kinda stiffed and deserved a better fate. Speaking of gay by the way, Jake Shears promoted the album nearly naked on the gay hustler website “rentboy”.
Anyway, all that not withstanding, they are huge in Europe and most probably (actually, look at the pix and say DEFINITELY) have a more elaborate stage show there. But how could they not sell enough tix?
Incidentally, I am reminded of a Bob Lefsetz story a coupla months back about heavily, heavily discounted tix to a Scissor Sisters Manchester concert.
i dunno, if you are releasing songs as good “Whole New Way” and still can’t sell tix maybe you are blowing the wrong people.
