Rural Foxes by Mike Nessing and Iman Lababedi

Mike Nessing had this to say:
It’s an all too rare moment for me when one artist comes along and takes elements of everything you’ve ever dug and sculpts it into something so unique and genuine.

Well last year “Fleet Foxes” did exactly that, with a record i’ve only heard just recently that almost made me pull over to the side of the road this morning. It’s all great, but “White Winter Hymnal” in particular, delivers the goods in 2:30. Heres the url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP_B0dTrvv0&feature=youtube_gdata

Iman Lababedi had this to say:
I don’t dislike Fleet Foxes and a harmony lover like Nessing is bound to love them. They are very good and very old fashioned. I hear their single “He Doesn’t Know Why” all the time and it is so retro it is almost otherworldly. Fleet Foxes are similar to Grizzly Bears in at least one way: they are both obsessively harmolodic. However, the url Mike recommends is a cover version and it is substantially better than the original. As though the Roches decided to cover Brian Wilson at his most rural. A great find.
