The Rocket Summer At The Palladium, Worcester, MA April 8th Take II: God An Man And Rockets by Helen Bach

There are times when a show is so bad all you can do is keep your head up and feed off the energy of the crowd.

More than once the enthusiasm of the mass at large has carried me through things no ear should ever have to hear, only to be disappointed hearing a recording…’wow they were so much better live’

nothing could be more polar opposite to that as last nights show in Worcester. The Palladium is a filthy pit that breeds germs like a petri dish.

I will tell you now that I can not identify a song by The Rocket Summer by name. That’s intentional. I feel sometime its best to step back and once I found we would be interviewing I thought even more that staying distant would offer objectivity.

I will say that I did not listen to the opening acts I couldn’t. I wasn’t there to hear them and I don’t feel they deserve to be challenged. They had a great opportunity in opening for TRS, and as was said we wish them well.

Bryce Avary is not a God, he is a man. A kind man and a very articulate man with great aspirations and a voice to speak to men and angels. On a stamp sized stage he attempted to place his entire show (seen earlier this year at the House Of Blues in Boston) into a quarter of the size in the most intimate atmopshere ever.

I will say the sound was perfection and whomever was working the board for his set you mastered that space, the clarity was paramount.

The crowd sucked. Shame on you Worcester, you had him RIGHT THERE but you didn’t return the energy he was giving YOU.

I have never heard ‘Blackbird’ done more sincerely more melodically and my fingers are crossed he does this at his NY show. I held my breath and was STOKED that the crowd was so lame cuz I could hear him rather than a thousand little girls.

I love that he comes to the crowd, performing a song right in the middle of the room.

I walked away a fan. I admire talent and he is extraordinarily so.He point blank said he didn’t know why he had the ‘scene kid’ crowd. Im not sure either, hes more mature hes is melodic. I see him evolving into a mature performer shedding the scene and becoming more stable. I hope so anyway.

Fantastic. Breathtaking. Energetic and Inspiring.
