Rock The Bells has announced the 2011 line up and guess who is front and center again? Ms. Lauryn Hill. Is "Ms" part of her name now cuz it always precedes her name. Nas, Cypress Hill, and Erykha Badu also flesh out the offering. There are actually 30 bands that fluctuate depending on the tour stop. The biggest hip hop traveling show will start in California and work its way East as the summer progresses.
What sucks?
The fact that "The Bells" will once again feature a number of acts performing influential albums in their entirety. Hill will perform her 1998 debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Nas will show off his 1994 debut Illmatic. I think that's the lamest idea of all time, to play an album in its entirety, just seems predictable and rather boring. Plus wheres the diversity?
The lineup also includes Immortal Technique, Slaughterhouse, Mac Miller, Curren$y, Childish Gambino, Freddie Gibbs, Blu + Exile + Fashawn, and Roc Marciano. More acts will be announced.
Another announcement coming up is news about the Rock The Bells club tour, which will feature select Rock The Bells artists at intimate venues on dates surrounding the festival shows.
The Guerilla Union pre-sale begins June 3 at 10 a.m. PST. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 4. .
