Who will review the reviewers?
I WILL!!!
Cmon kids -time for your end of term report cards.
Helen Bach – Prolific and opinionated. A little weak on on the music itself but excellent on the culture. No sense of proportion. Grade: B+.
Mike Nessing – Excellent on the material but insulated musicially. Grade: A-
Brett Jensen – Most wildly imaginative but completely reactionary when it comes to the sounds themselves. His Love Grenades profile was a must read. Grade: A-
Todd Leibowitz – Brief to the point of incoherence but unique ears and well informed on the music he likes. Grade: B+
Mary Magpie – The best of the bunch. Still working her way through the music (in five years time she’ll be writing about Glenn Branca and electric guitar symphonies) but represents everything that’s best about music loving and music writing -youth, passion and compassion. Grade: A
Marie Lynn – Her report from Nashville put us on the map seven months ago but very, very sporadic and fairly narrow in taste. Grade: B
Remy Caplan – Our Manchester, England correspondent fell off the face of the Earth. Incomplete.
Robert Nevin – The instigator left us stranded but when he has the time has a fine first person style. Grade: B
Bobby Sciortino – Never met a deadline he couldn’t miss by weeks but has good ears and I hope to get him on the dance music beat. Grade: C+
Brian Doherty – Expect him to start contributing next year. A former Krakerjaxxer and a good writer but how will he do on music?
Me – Glad you asked. Needs a proofreader in the worst way and can’t make up his mind what he likes. Grade: B
