You think growing up is gonna be rough? Man, is it going to be rough and look no further than Steve Tyler's performance at the AFC Championship last Sunday. The Pats won, the Ravens quoth nevermore and Steve Tyler sang the National Anthem and scared the kids.
There was a time, maybe two or three years, in the mid 1970s, Aresosmith were cool. But cool or not, Tyler was an American Mick Jagger wannabe, a dynamite looking guy with babes a plenty. I wonder how it felt to wake up around the end of his 20th facelift and realized he is, indeed, Joan Rivers.
In the Woody Allen movie "Annie Hall", Mariel Hemingway says how much she loves old peoples faces. So do I. O love the wrinkles, the aging, the fineness of time making old people, rugged, but human, and beautiful in a way different then the beauty of youth.
Watching the Joan rRvers and Steve Tylers of the world is just sad. They look terrible. They look plastic. Tyler actually sounded great but he looked awful. Why not grow old gracefully? What would it cost him? He certainly couldn't look any worse.
Old people's faces are beautiful. Except for members of Aersosmith.
