“Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy Camp” April 4-7, 2013

Def Leppard, Las Vegas, 4 days… nightmare or dream come true?

I have been reporting on these rich boy fantasy camps for years now and every time I find them more and more ridiculous.

Who the hell would want to do something like this?  That Docker wearing middle management reject with a nice sears lawn mower and a wife who reads Fifty Shades of Grey while straddling the washing machine.  Get the image? Yeah.

Taking place at the MGM Grand, not only do you get Def Leppard showing you how to play the band’s classic tracks like “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Rock Of Ages,” but you’ll be joined by Lita Ford of the Runaways plus many more has beens to fulfill your pathetic teenaged dream.  A shame Farah Faucett couldn’t show up in that swimsuit on graduation day, dontcha think?

These camps must be doing well, there have been many hosts and they keep going strong.  This means there are a lot of ‘go find your smile’ relationships out there allowing a last hurrah for the life defeated.

Look at this idiotic listing of benefits!

Write and record and original song

Play in a band lead by a ‘rock star counselor’

Rehearse and perform in Las Vegas

Have an experience of a lifetime

All instruments and backline provided (or bring your own!)

Ultimate fan experience

Daily meals with celebrity musicians and campers

This is the most pathetic listing I’ve seen.  Seriously “have an experience of a lifetime!”, wtf?  At $6,000.00 base fee, little Timmy is going to have to wait another year for those braces he’s needing while Daddy goes and squeezes his cheese into spandex.

This whole adults playing dress up thing sorta makes me gag.  Let alone that it’s with middle aged ‘celebrities’ as well.  The camp is limited to 70 people.  At 6k per head we’re talking a nice chunk of change for all involved.  I wish I knew someone who went or who is going so I can grill them about their deflated ego issues.
