The Return Of The Faces

Wednesday night saw the return of the Faces at the Millennium Dome in London, a 400 SRO.

But how can you have the faces without Ronnie Lane and Rod Stewart?

I guess you have the Faces lite and when it comes to the greatest pub rock band of all time, lite will have to do.

The thought of Simply Red’s  Mick Hucknell taking over from Rod is simply a joke and, as much as I admire former Pistol and Rich Kids bassist Glen Matlock -cmon, this is Plonk we’re discussing.

Still Andrew Perry’s review was fairly positive and apparently they didn’t kill off “Cindy Incidently” or “Oooh La La” or “Stay With Me” for that matter so it can’t be all bad.

Plus: I reviewed Ian McLagan at Joe’s Pub earlier this year and thought he was fairly terrific then and would bet he was on Wednesday as well. The Faces didn’t perform Lane’s masterpiece “Debris” though Ian did.

He could handle. they should give it a try.
