Regina Spektor on SNL: Is This Eet??
In anticipation of going to see her at Radio City on Wednesday, after being blown away be her performance earlier this year at the Beacon, I watched Regina Spektor’s version of “Eet” with some interest and it didn’t quite qork for me. Marie Lynn thought the entire Far. Not I. I loved it – still think it’s one of the albums of the year BUT on SNL the addition of a stand up bass and violin on “Eet” is a little fussy.
Later she performs the rockier “The Calculation” and I can see a bit more -even more than watching her live where I was distracted by her looming presense, that what Spektor appears to be doing is ignoring guitars for classical instruments in a pop band atmosphere. Not a bad idea though only if it’s Regina doing it!
