Red Cortez is currently having a February residency at the Satellite, and I hope to be able to catch one soon, as I really liked them at the LAWeekly 101 last November, where they played just before Saint Motel. Their mix of passionate rock-soul-blues, and even Americana, had these soothing-soaring riffs that can give you chills, and I remember a song about the war (‘We Will Start A War’, whose demo comes with this week EP) that was just intensely epic live.
They have opened for Morrissey during an east coast tour in 2009, and have also toured with Tallest Man on Earth, Delta Spirit, Black Lips, Alberta Cross,… so they must have some stage presence, now grab their free songs and go see them if you are in LA,… everything is free!
