Rapper T-Pain: Some Rappers Won't Work With Frank Ocean Because He's Gay

Rapper T-Pain may drop one hundred N-words per minute but he seems to know what he is talking about! In an interview with Vlad TV, while addressing the important issue of homophobia in the hip hop/rap world, he was being quite pessimistic about the whole thing, and interestingly, took the example of Frank Ocean, who used his Tumblr in July 2012 to reveal that his first love was a man. This is what T-Pain said:

‘I don’t think urban music is getting more gay friendly because if that was the case, Frank Ocean would be on a lot more songs’, he declared adding (without giving specific names that several rappers ‘will not do a song with Frank Ocean just because he gay.’ He continued: ‘Like, he was on [Jay Z and Kanye West’s] ‘Watch the Throne’ album before he came out, and then when he came out, it’s like he can’t get in the studio with Jay and Kanye right now. It’s so fucking terrible. … It’s in his fucking genes. It’s not a fucking choice. The man came out like that, and you can’t just fucking disown this man because he’s living a certain life that you don’t fucking approve of because somebody told you not to approve of it.’

First of all I applause T-Pain for this, ‘It’s in his fucking genes. It’s not a fucking choice’, call me pre-judgmental but I didn’t expect this coming from a man talking like this! I am so used to people pretending it’s a choice, but this guy is actually making sense. But what nobody can exactly understand is the part about Ocean not being able to get in the studio with big names. 2012 was a long time ago and since that time Ocean collaborated with Kanye West on ‘New Slaves’, Jay-Z on ‘Oceans’, and Beyoncé on ‘Superpower in 2013. Not exactly the small crowd, so either T-Pain has some recent inside information or is he pulling this out of his ass for the attention?

That said I don’t think the homophobia problem has disappeared from the rap word and Ocean is probably not going to be invited on Chris Brown or Eminem’s next album anytime soon. I always wonder what is behind homophobia, what is their problem exactly? Are rappers all that religious? Or rather, is it a reaction against their secret sexual drive? Anyway, I would like to know who are these people who don’t want to work with Ocean because he is gay. Could it be 50 Cent who twitted in 2010 ‘If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pussy just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol’. Could it be Lord Jamar who twitted after seeing Kanye West wearing a skirt, ‘Y’all Cee where the Kanye s–t is takin us right? #halfafag’. Could it be Lil Scrappy who said after Ocean’s coming-out ‘The music is what really matters. I’m glad that he came out…so all the real women that love to mess with real men, straight men, we can keep the AIDS situation down, you feel me?’ Or could it even be Azealia Banks who used the f-word to answer to Perez Hilton? There is an endless list of homophobic rants coming from the hip hop/rap community, and T-Pain should name names!
