Rumors are flying around the indie community that Pep's next release will be produced Quincy Jones and despite the bands valiant attempts to quell them, they have taken on a life of their own. Pep released a statement as follows: "We apologize to our fans who may have been misled by these purported rumors. We are not planning on working with music producer Quincy Jones on our upcoming record.
"We feel that this incident has distracted from the momentum we have been trying to build and we'd like put this behind us. We respectfully apologize to Mr. Jones and his management for any bad feeling this may have resulted in. However, we are open to working with Mr. Jones in the future."
The major problem with the rumor of a new album is that the group are right now focusing on promoting the June 1st release of their new EP, "My Baby and Me."
Well maybe, but if that is the case why is there "No comment" (we haven't heard any) from the Quincy Jones campe. I might add that we also have heard no comment from David Geffen and Clive Davis, both of whom might well be heind a project of this magnitude. Certainly, if you have ever heard Pep, the five piece band, Karys Rhea, Morgan Lynch, Ilana Webber, Shaw Walters and Alex Fast, who dub themselves "50s pop with a twist", one could certainly assume Jones would be drawn to the back to the future conceptual ring a ding ding, lalalalaaa.
The EP is a humdinger and the band is making their stage debut at Brooklyn's Cameo in May. Among the people who are not confirmed to be making an appearance is one Sean Connery, who hs been sharing his 80th birthday with Jones and might well show up if Jones is there.
Again, there is apparently no truth to any of this except the following:
1. Pep's debut EP is a doozy.
2. Pep will be at Cameo in May
