Psy's "Gentleman" On Its Way To 2 Billion Youtube Views

Now that we have all stopped laughing ourselves sick of "Gentleman" getting banned from the South Korean state runn TV station KBS for kicking over a traffic cone (destruction of public property in case you were wondering), it might be worth noting that 200 Million people have viewed the video to "Gentleman", in what, 14 days? It took "Gangham Style" 50 days to get there.

But does that mean it will reach 2 Billion view, or even his previous 1.5 Billion. It looks like it but even if it doesn't. one thing is sure, Psy is at least a two hit wonder.

The song is absolutely cracking, almost as good as the new G-Dragon and if South Korea stop messing with him, Psy might get Big Bang and Juniel and hit the road with a K-Pop tour that could actually sell out US Arenas and push the entire scene to the next level. For all G-D's genius posturing, he will have to play second to Psy for now and despite Asia being thTHE market for K-Pop, you haven't really broken pop till you've broken pop Stateside.

The really good news about K-Pop is that it sounds really really good. Everything else notwithstanding, the music is a delirious hedonistic dance dream. It deserves to break big in the West and Psy can make it happen.

The video is pretty good as well, though I am not a video guy myself, still it is a sparkling gag filled romped. Psy is like an imp of pop, he is both harmless and threatening and his career since breaking the West has been a mix of the two, suddenly stories of Anti-Americanism appeared and people began to figure that the breakthrough was a satirical jab at South Korean hipsters. Meanwhile, he looks like a Korean Presley but… fat Presley?
