Psychic Radio- By Helen Bach

Good Sunday Morning
Nothing like waking to this mug, ay?

Dionne Warwick wants some money. Ever since that Psychic Friends” failure she’s been looking for a gig.

Warwick, 69, appeared at a Capitol Hill event to urge Congress to pass legislation to make radio stations pay fees to musicians, similar to those paid to songwriters.

Satellite and Internet radio do in fact pay royalties to performers but your standard AM and FM stations do not. Warwick would like legislation put in place to make sure performers get their fair share.

Its a noble cause I presume, but I’m not sure what her cut would be. How much air wave is Ms. Warwick getting?

But House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., compared the lack of royalties paid to performers to involuntary servitude.

“They work and they don’t get paid,” Conyers said after the event. “That’s involuntary servitude. They don’t even get any choice of whether they want to work or not – they just take their work product.”
