Phoenix 'Have Got That Beatles Thing Going On' According To R Kelly

Now we’re gonna play “Helter Skelter”

R Kelly is out of his mind, he has just compared the French band Phoenix to the Beatles in an interview with Pitchfork! So because he made a guest appearance during the band’s performance at this year’s Coachella, he can lose his mind and compare this very-forgettable-and-just-okay band to one of the most iconic band in music history?

R Kelly can’t stop raving about his collaboration with Phoenix that night:

‘That that was one of the most magical nights of my life. It was like going to Walt Disney World, but I was one of the characters rather than just being one of the people walking around the park trying to get on the rides. I felt like I owned the place playing with those guys. Their energy level was ridiculously high. I felt like I finally met other aliens.’

The collaboration was probably one of the most unexpected ever done and Kelly probably still can’t believe he was invited, but ‘one of the most magical nights of his life?’ I bet he was more impress by the huge Coachella crowd than by the band itself.

But he is clear, Phoenix is the best band he has ever collaborated with:

‘Well, you’re right: There’s the Michael Jacksons and the Ronald Isleys and all the other people that I’ve collaborated with. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve worked with a lot of talent out there. But when you have a gift, it’s different than just having talent. [Phoenix] are gifted– they’ve got that Beatles thing going on. You can’t explain it.’

This is why I say he is out of his mind, it must be all this sex escapades with teenager girls… Err I am sorry but this is the image I get when I read ‘R Kelly’.

In any case, Phoenix are not and will never be the Beatles, and here is why:

I, like anyone, can sing many Beatles’ songs, and I can’t even hum a single Phoenix’s song… okay they have been around for a fraction of second compared to the British band, but they already have 5 albums out. After their fifth album, the Beatles had already produced ‘Help!’, ‘Ticket to Ride’, ‘Yesterday’, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘And I Love Her’, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’…. Among many other immortal tracks.

Plus, Phoenix’s members are French and they sing in English because they know this was the only way to conquer America and the world,… doesn’t this make them a little fake and calculators? They even took a moniker that totally makes everyone forget they are French.

Then, Thomas Mars, the singer of the band is married to Sofia Coppola and she hates the Beatles!!! He said so in an interview and even revealed that John Lennon was her least favorite Beatle… this is just insane, what did she lost in translation exactly?
