My friend Sandy deBellis sent me this email from PBS Channel 13.
Dear Sandy,
It’s Election Day in NYC and New Jersey — we hope you get a chance to vote. But there’s another reason to vote today…
After receiving nominations from over 1,800 music fans, we’ve narrowed the list down to the top five finishers — the five musical artists that our community picked as having had the greatest influence on world events.
AND THE FINALISTS ARE:
THE BEATLES
PETE SEEGER
BOB DYLAN
U2 & BONO
MICHAEL JACKSON
Now it’s time to vote. Which of these artists has had the greatest impact?
Everyone at THIRTEEN has been amazed by the things we’ve learned during this contest. You’ve opened up our eyes to the way music changes people’s lives.
But we’d like to make this contest even a little more interesting.
One person, selected at random, who votes for the artist that gets the most votes will win The Beatles 17-Disc Remastered Box Set!
So don’t just vote for one of the five finalists — make sure to tell your friends to do the same, so that you have a chance to win this great prize.
Read some of the many surprising and inspiring nominations for the final five artists and cast your vote now:

And remember to tune-in on Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. for How The Beatles Rocked the Kremlin – the surprising documentary about how The Beatles helped undermine the Soviet Union and bring down the Iron Curtain.
