At 70, Paul Simon does not show any sign of slowing down since he has just announced another tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his album Graceland, for which he received the album of the year Grammy in 1987.
According to Billboard.com, Simon has the intention to reunite musicians who toured with him in 1987, like the South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Simon even returned to South Africa last July and he and his band performed with Hugh Masekela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo for a documentary firmed by director Joe Berlinger, which will be included in the 25th anniversary box set. Unfortunately, Miriam Makeba could not be part of it as she passed away in 2008.
What a flash back! As a matter of fact, Simon declared to Billboard.com:’ The documentary took me back to the artistic aspects and the political aspects of making Graceland and the controversy that surrounded it and how it was resolved, plus what remains of it and what we learn from it.’
He has just toured the U.S. and Europe this year, he still has dates in the US until December, he is going to be 70 the 13th of this month, and thus will continue to tour next year! It’s good time for Simon fans
