In 1979 The Special arrived on site with their amazing yes AMAZING song “Too Much Too Young”
Thus ska became semi mainstream. Well enough for a suburban upper middle class white girl to hear about across the pond. Ive always been a huge ska fan and had the absolute joy of seeing Bad Manners and The English Beat just a bit ago.
As worried as I was that they were too old, is as wrong as I was. Both band were strong contagious and great live.
Now its the Specials turn
The original line up is in the studio (except for Jerry). I KNOW!! I’m so stoked! They have been touring on a limited basis since 2008, and are ready to get to the studio
Terry Hall red hot sexy beast (well back in the day anyway)
“We think going forward is a healthy thing to do. We’ve discussed things that will take us on a slightly different route. It will be different to what we’ve done, just because it has to be really, because we can’t keep doing the same set.”
Too true. At this age singing “Too Much Too Young”, sorta seems grandfatherly…
Hall said, “We need to combine elements of what we’ve done before with what we’ve always wanted to do.”
Sounds good to me.. bring it on. Lets just hope the sessions don’t take another 30 years
