In what amounts to the longest pee break in history, according to the New York Post and everybody else “The Archdiocese of New York announced Monday that performers including singers Harry Connick Jr. and Gloria Estefan and actress Jennifer Hudson will perform as part of a program called “A Journey in Faith.” Also on board are Norm Lewis from Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera,” actress Kelli O’Hara, Martin Sheen, singer James “D-Train” Williams and Norm Lewis. There will also be choirs, speeches by some of the 50 bishops attending the papal Mass and others.”

OK, I exaggerate. I love Harry Connick Jr, who was so great in “The Pajama Game” on Broadway ten years ago, I’ve forgiven him for neglecting New Orleans. And I like Jennifer Hudson and Gloria Estefan, Kelli O’Hara, that cocked optimists, is one of the greatest Nellie Forbush. Indeed, you would have to go back to the original Nellie Mitzi Gaynor to find her superior. D Train is a talented soul singer.

Not that it matters because none of us are getting into MSG for Pope Francis’ mass to 20,000 of the faithful. The Pope is the hottest thing to hit the catholic religion since, well, since they stopped being powerbrokers in Europe and morphed into a money making machine. With a bravery that will probably end up flatlined, the Pope is welcoming the sinners (particularly divorcees) back to the fold and ruffling feathers.

Pope Francis is also annoying Capitalists pretending to be freedom fighters by pointing out that they are ripping off 99% of the world. True, but the Church does their own fair share as well -anybody who saw “The Godfather III” can attest to it, can’t they?

Meanwhile, forget tickets to MSG but tickets to WAVE AT THE POPE AS HE GOES THROUGH CENTRAL PARK, 80,000 of them (only 83K folks applied, cmon, imagine if you were waving for Bruce Springsteen -I bet ten times the number of people would have applied. Especially, if we got three benedictions at the conclusion of the journey)… one of many nightmares awaiting the NYPD.

170 (90%) of the world leaders are at the UN the same day, I figure someone decided to put every terrorist main attraction at the same place and at the same time, it is a question of organization, you know. it saves time if we all just stick a giant bullseye on our backs and wander around the city. incidentally, the very next day is Global Citizen…

Catch him before he passes on to his reward after a short illness.
