One Direction, The New Pepsi Boys

Following in the footsteps of stars including Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and David Beckham are those crazy One Direction boys. I have to say there are more teenaged fans in the older tier than I had ever realized.  Not only are these guys appealing to the 8 year olds we have legitimate 17 and 18 year olds falling over at their feet.  I think its adorable that a band can span that age group, and I also think their shelf life is short.

Surprised?  Shouldn't be its great business planning for a boy band.  Merchandise the crap out of them before their flame goes out.

Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne – filmed the campaign at a New Orleans to film the next soft drink campaign with footballers no less.  Why on Earth would they pair up football and boy bands?  There has to be a grand plan in here somewhere.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "This is a huge deal for them in monetary terms — but even bigger for status as the coverage they'll get from it is massive.

"They're already stars across America, but this could catapult them to super stardom."

"The boys were under strict instructions to stay quiet on this one and refrain from tweeting about their whereabouts.

"They flew to Tampa before boarding a private jet laid on by Pepsi to New Orleans where they met quarterback Drew Brees, who taught them the ropes on American football. Other football stars are in the ad too."
