OFF! new and self-titled album will only be released on May 8 via Vice, but they are offering a free pre-taste of it, with ‘King Kong Brigade’. The band has promised 16 songs in 16 minutes, so this track must be the longest one of the album.
It intriguingly starts on the quiet side with a few gentle guitar chords, but the just-over-one-minute-teeth-grinding tune soon takes off with a more angry tone as soon as Circle Jerks/Black Flag singer Keith Morris launches his usual tantrum over furious guitars; but overall I would say it is a little bit more restrained than usual,… still I liked these chirping monkeys at the end, and so did my cat!
The same day, OFF! announced they will be playing with Swedish punks Refused for a few summer tour dates, as you can see it below. However, I have noticed lately a few twitter exchanges between OFF!, Dimitri Coats, and… Ryan Adams, and there was even a Keith Morris-Ryan Adams show on Moheak radio! But so far the North Carolina songwriter is not part of the tour:
