Boston is one of the worse places to see a gig. I cant remember the last time I went to a show where there wasn’t at least one drunk obese loud humanoid scrapping with someone. It’s an obnoxious environment. Most say New York has the ‘mean’ crowd, that couldn’t be more inaccurate. Boston = Brute. The women more than the men, by the way.
I actually thing a mild sedative would do these people well but nah, aint happening. At a Zed concert at the Boston House of Blues some idiot overdosed and died while two others were hospitalized. Harsh? No- if you use drugs it’s a calculated risk- no sympathy here. But the promoter NV Concepts who books numerous EDM (when did EDM replace EBM anyway?)shows released a zero tolerance. Does this mean there was tolerance previously? It means ‘NV” (idiotic name btw) wanted to throw down a formal babble statement for the publicity and here is what they’ve said.
Here’s their vague and double speak statement to the Boston Herald
“We have always put the safety of our concertgoers first at all of our events and ensure that the venues we work with enforce stringent security measures,” NV Concepts wrote. “We will continue to develop new measures, in conjunction with the venues we work with, to ensure the safety of all concertgoers.
Music is our passion and will continue to be the focus of the business we love.” The firm is reportedly considering a collaboration with artists on anti-drug campaigns to bring light to the issue. (cuz apparently Bostonians didnt know drugs could be dangerous)
“Raising awareness and educating on the dangers of substance abuse will help individuals make good decisions. We want to be a part of the solution,” the statement says.
Good luck with that, but where is the zero tolerance?
