As Iman posted in June, The Nuv, an Italian/Canadian alt hard rock band, have a quite similar sound and vibe to past greats like The Foo Fighters and others; I hear some Nirvana in there as well. Sounding like past greats can be great or it can be bad. Currently, I don’t like/know of many bands that really ROCK like those did back in the day. Therefor that could be a blessing of a statement said about these European blokes.
“Nobel” off their new CD titles ‘Top Model Super Fashion’ is my fav out of three I listened to, only thing that troubles me ( not really) is that it sounds very American already. And what i mean by that is it doesn’t sound Italian or Canada or anything else, and coming from this ethnocentric nation that I have grown up in, I assume that it sounds ‘American’, but for all I know that what all rock sounds like in Italy. ( What a great tangent, just to point out how much Americans love America. Personally, I love the entire world, and after traveling all over, I can honestly say that.)
The NUV, standing for, The New Ultraviolet, also goes quite hardcore in their track ‘Ultraviolence’, great combo of those 2 guitars, bass, and their drummer, drumming like there’s no tomorrow; a bit dark and scary at times. So i like 2/3 songs I’ve heard, not too shabby. Covered the recorded part, now i just can’t wait to see how they handle themselves LIVE, when we separate the boys from the men. I get the feeling they can bring it, but won’t believe it till I see it.
