Now it’s Vampire Weekend’s turn To Face Their Toughest Critic: Our one and only Helen Bach!!!

oh my God

The intro to “Campus” of toy drum and bass plunk uh huh.. love it.

Its almost kid like this is the music you jump up and down on the bed to. This is the song you want while you’re in the kitchen so you can belt out ‘how am I supposed to pretend I never want to see you again’ into a wooden spoon.

What is it with the drum here? Its so stark, it absolutely grabs my attention. The bass is amazing and contagious. hmm happy music doesn’t exactly fit in with my winter themed previous write up but like any proper girl I can mood swing like a pendulum so bring it on!

I deviated from Iman’s suggestion to cop a listen to ‘The Kids Don’t Stand A Chance’ cuz I love the title. The vocalist is distinct and and Ray Davies ish dontcha think? Again with the calliope sounding of a children’s jack in the box is so unique, still bass thumpy and snare drummed. Im not catching the lyrics but the hook is awesome and is that a freakin harpsichord I hear? and then it happens……out of nowhere a violin solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOLD!

“Oxford Comma” I had heard before though not sure where and its fucking adorable. Uh oh. I love them.

There is something about the hiccup of the vocal that is just endearing. The music on all of these songs is simplistic almost stark but well.. happy. I think they may be lamenting on love lost or something but it doesn’t even matter. The tempo is just plain contagious and I would be hard pressed to snivel about the poor Me’s with this on.

Are these the next Weezer wave of nerd rock?… OMG its Rivers Cuomos proteges!

That’s it!

They’re self depreciating upbeat goons.

I want to hang out with them…….badly.
