New York Times Are MOFers
I’ve loved Jon Pareles ever since he edited me in the Voice when christgau was on vacation and has been nothing but polite to me on the occasions I’ve run into him BUT he really suxd on Monsters Of Folk at United Palace in the New York Times yesterday.
In a very positive review of a somewhat average set, Pareles wrote: “Monsters of Folk is a band of philosophers. Its songs don’t tell stories or profess love; they ponder existential questions”. Yeah, like who is holding the coke and where can we get our suits cleaned.
