This is when I worry. Why? Why would New Order go back to the studio now? Peter Hook wont be a part of it hes still beard deep in legal issues over the name. I don't think its financial though I am unsure how much that Manchester scene was invested.
I worry that it will tarnish the amazing memories of "Bizarre Love Triangle" or the stellar brilliance of "Blue Monday'. Best of all "Age of Consent" with some of the best drum sounds of all time. Decades and decades later they're going to the studio.
Bernard Sumner (vocalist and guitar) tells BBC 6Music that the band will meet after Christmas to discuss exactly what for their new material might take. "We've not decided yet, but from what we've seen from traveling around the world is that people want to hear some new stuff," Sumner says. “Speaking to journalists and speaking to fans, they seem to really want to hear some new stuff. We won't play live as much next year, maybe half the amount we've done this year, and we'll write some new stuff."
How about it takes the direction of not happening? This could easily tarnish new order in general and have the masses thinking its a quick buck undertaking. A tour now and then is cool but their sound needs to remain where it is. Can you imagine them trying an updated rock tune? Worry indeed. Before anyone starts whimpering that I'm all pro Peter Hook that's not true either. His band Peter Hook And The Light released 1102 2011 EP in 2011, featuring four versions of Joy Division songs including the previously unrecorded "Pictures In My Mind." and I want keen on that either. Don't screw up my memories.
