Neil Young at age 66 has had one doozy of a career. Not shy with his opinions the rocker holds a throne in rock and roll and with that track record must have a lot to say.
The autobiography, “Waging Heavy Peace” on shelves now gives Young an opportunity to share his experiences with his hungry fans. The book contains over 50 family photos as intimate views into the stars life.
The title was inspired by his criticism of digital music :
"Ben Bourdon, one of Ben Young's caregivers, asked me if I was making war on Apple after he heard PureTone. I said, 'No. I'm waging heavy peace.'"
Young has always been pretty up front with his thoughts on business and politics and seems to be on a soapbox most of the time. The book provide an honest approach to telling the story in his own voice and does not follow in chronological order. The story spans decades in no particular order adding to the creative flow of the words.
"I think I will have to use my time wisely and keep my thoughts straight if I am to succeed and deliver the cargo I so carefully have carried thus far to the outer reaches. Not that it's my only job or task. I have others too. Sacred things that I need to protect from pain and hardship, like careless remarks on an open mind."
-Neil Young from Waging Heavy Peace.
