Must See Concert: Maps And Atlases At the Studio At Webster Hall, May 2012

Maps And Atlases sound the way I would guess the Dirty Projectors would if they had guy back up singers and  recorded for Saddle Creek.

I guess what I'm saying is that on M&A's new album the lead singer Dave Davison songs a lot like Dave Longstreth and the weird meetings of art beats and twinkling vibrations with catchy rock hooks puts the band somewhere in their own terrain.

Or, to put it another way, Maps And Atlases are to the dirty Projectors what Chicago is to Brooklyn… only better.

The album is one of my faves of 2012 and the moment I heard it I went on to Tickettmaster to see if there were any upcoming concerts and there was, and I invested less than twenty bucks including service charges to catch em at the not bad room the Studio At Webster Hall.

the gig is a Monday and, yeah, I feel your pain, but I think this is something of a must see. Yes, Beware And Be Grateful is that big an album. So invest less than twenty bucks, the gig is May 21st and it wasn't sold out a coupla days ago.
