Must See: Bon Jovi At MetLife, July 2013

I know you think that inveterate Bon Jovi hater little ol' me is going because he wants to take his niece Louba Lababedi to catch em before she gets married in September, has babies, and has no more time for her old Uncle Iman. And it is true Louba is a big fan and it is true I am taking her to Metlife on July 25th (a thursday -which kinda sucks but…) but that's not why I am going, at least not entirely.

Here are my reasons.

1. I lked the way Jon Bon Jovi handled his daughters OD. It was the definition of grace under enormous pressure and, yes, fear.

2. Bon Jovi blew Bruce Springsteen off stage at 12-12-12. I'm not guessing here, I know, I saw them do it. First Jon saved Bruce's set, joining him on "Born To Run" then he performed a killer "Who Says You Can't Go Home" with Bruce along for the ride and then the band creamed a handful of greatest hits. It was a lesson in Arena rock and the second best set of the evening.

3. Bon Jovi just released their latest song "Because We Can", and it is better than the newbies by Bowie and Atoms For Peace, it is really a great little love anthem so catchy and so sweet. A terrific song, best song of the year so far.

When it comes to Metlife, it is pretty obviously that NJ sons E Street Band are playing the Giants to Bon Jovi's Jets, BUT, as Herman Edwards almost put it: you play the Stadium concert to see who wins. My bet? Bon Jovi take Bruce down.
