Demetri Martin is a talented musician, artist, and comedian.
He has a couple 'songs', where he plays piano or guitar, usually with a harmonica, and tells jokes at the same time.
It is so funny.
"A power nap is when you is when you sleep on someone who's weaker than you". Then, he plays gracefully though jazz- inspired notes. "A mobile home with a flat tire is a home". His wit and seriousness when telling his jokes is admirable, because I'd be cracking up if I had to say these things. Not to mention the fact that he's actually playing an instrument. Talk about multitasking.
"I got a time machine at home, it only works at regular speed". Martin's fingers dance through the tune and with his jokes on top, it's perfection. "If I ever saw an amputee being hanged, I would just yell out letters". I wish that I was as clever as Demetri. His jokes are quick but funny, and they stick. Even though he's playing the same notes over and over, it doesn't get boring because they aid them.
Also, on one of his specials he did a segment where he was playing the piano and harmonica while a slideshow of some of his drawings in the background. This is my personal favourite musical piece Demetri Martin's ever done.
Watch it, and laugh. Then wish you were seeing him Friday like me.
