Muppets: The Green Album Reviewed

After my ransacking of the well loved Buddy Holly tribute album, I would be so sorry if I had to sneer at a Muppets tribute album as well. So sorry but capable of doing it. The world's opinion notwithstanding, you don't necessarily have to use kids songs as anesthetics. I can think of two right off the top of my heart which were anything but. That Saturday Morning Cartoon one (with the Ramones and Juliana Hatfield at the top of their powers) and Stay Awake -a Disney tribute that was simply awesome, especially Tom Waits.

So let's look for the positive…

Lessee here…

Ahhh screw it, you get OK Go, Paramore (or Hayley or whatever) . You get  My Morning Jacket who I am so pissed off with… Look, he followed MOF (remember "Dear God" -just the title is scary) with Circuital. Enough, already, write a good song. Sure, he is great live, but what do you do with a guy who names himself Yim Yames and releases an album of SLOW George Harrison songs? Wasn't slow the reason Harrison made All Things Must Pass???

What else? Any good, anything?? Alkaline Trio's "Mahna Mahna" wasn't bad though totally unnecessary. Anything else? The problem is, there is no reason for me to sit through Rivers and Hayley "The Rainbow Connection". Even if it was much better, there is too much differentce between a green frog and a middle aged white and an egotistical chick singer whining about about how it is not easy being green. We know their back backstories too well to take their subtlety seriously. I loved Rivers right  through and including his own "Green" album (the pne in which the video -also good- featured the Muppets!) and I loved Hayley for two seconds around "Misery Business" but mainly because I'd like to nail her (not now: I'm too sick of her voice). They both suck.

Who else sucks? The Airborne Toxic Event? They don't even have the manners to change their name to ATE. AMY LEE???? She's the poorman's Hayley Williams.

This is a crap album.
