The show that literally made us ill, has been cancelled. To be honest with you I didnt even know it was still on. I watched about 20 min of the first show and couldnt go any longer. There are some things that you simply cannot replicate. UK Skins cant fly in the States. Im not sure why, I dont even really care. The show is perfectly British (like me come to think of it) and I can honestly see why they would have attempted it. American teenagers are so busy wearing gaming headsets and playing COD they have no time for drugs and sex and dancing. The execs of MTV must have considered it a publlic service to try and get the US teens on the ball.
Failed.
There was a great deal of teenage hype waiting for this show to begin and a great hurrahhhhhhh that fizzled like an Alka Seltzer, I dont know one person who watches this. Now the answer will be no one, but for different reason. I guess to save face MTV is blaming the progressive topic and bold sexual stance as too contriversial for media sponsors as the reason for the heave how-
MTV 'official statement':
"'Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped.
"We admire the work that the series' creator Bryan Elsley did in adapting the show for MTV, and appreciate the core audience that embraced it."
Fess up they pulled the plug cuz it sucked.
