MTv was a network for 'music television'. Was. The network is no longer as music focused now that its found drama and reality programming to be more profitable.
Back in 'the day' there were some amazing shows on the network. Not just Beavis and Butthead and 120 Minutes but the now infamous "Unplugged" series. "Unplugged" took our favorite bands and literally unplugged them, putting them in the round with no enhancement. Acoustic performances by those we never thought we would hear in such raw form. I would have to say Nirvana and Pearl Jams episodes are the most remembered to me.
The series is about to return and first up is Florence and The Machine. Flo will perform with The Voices of Rivers choir and a duet with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme. This will air on April 8th.
Just as an interesting fact MTV Unplugged debuted in 1989 with Squeeze, Syd Straw and Elliot Easton (The Cars). Yup, how cool was that?!
