If you are in Salzburg next week, and I don't see why you should be, get thee to a Mozarteum and have your images of Amadeus forever changed with an exhibit of over a 1000 paintings of the Justin Bieber of the 18th century, a flame thrower of a rock tar who was a star before he was 18 and dead before he came within spitting distance of 40 years old.
I am sure that whether you listen to classical music or not, you've heard a lot of his compositions in much the same way that whether you have read Shakespeare or not you know a lot of his plays. And so, like me, have a certain fascination with this harbinger of so much to do with being famous even without mentioning his music.
So, anyway, he had a weird nose and digged wigs and otherwise these pix speak for themselves. And Donald Trump is still living.
Here is some more info off the Mozarteum website: "For the first time almost all the authentic portraits of Mozart can be seen in the exhibition Mozart Pictures – Pictures of Mozart. Of 14 portraits created during his lifetime 12 are on show; 9 of these are owned by the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation"
here is the website and also New York Times has a great gallery and here are a couple of pix we found.http://www.mozarteum.at/en/content/latest-news.html?meldung=144
