OK since we are not a 'news source' we have the ability to report something you already know but with opinion. Morrissey was scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday February 26 and wrote a polite decline once he found he would be sharing the show with the folks from Duck Dynasty. An avid animal fan (no way really?) Morrissey opted not to attend unless the Duck Dicks were rescheduled.
Kimmel chose opted to keep the Duck Dynasty guest and used their visit as an opportunity to parody vegetarianism and gun control. Kimmel is a comedian- its his job. But his insensitivity just made him a giant sucking ass in my book and hopefully many others.
So Morrissey issued the following counter statement. This is from Pitchfork and they have yet to offer source but it sounds Morriseyesque
“I was disappointed with last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show wherein our smiling host managed to ridicule depression (70% of Americans suffer from depression according to the National Institute of Mental Health). He then found time to ridicule healthy eating (the obesity epidemic in the U.S. costs $147 billion per year in medical expenditure), and he also ridiculed the notion that animals should be entitled to the possession of their own lives. Furthermore, he found time to jokingly promote gun-ownership – hugely amusing for the parents at Sandy Hook, no doubt. He also promoted his special guests Duck Dynasty – who kill beings for fun. None of the above issues are, of course, as important as Jimmy Kimmel himself, who has finally revealed his show to have an overwhelming loss of meaning. Tune in and relive the intellectual fog of the 1950s.”
I will not offer you the skit Kimmel showed. Its beneath your intelligence but may in fact the above the intelligence of some of our commentors. I will no longer be listing Kimmels line up on my weekly television column and I will no longer watch his show.
Lets see Steven Colbert took his jabs, this with Kimmel…I'm sure there are others- which leads me to understand why Morrissey is so bitter. Yeah, he has opinions and strong convictions so he allows himself to be a target and target they do. Calling him a Debbie Downer is so idiotic when he brings such joy to millions of fans.
I think his attitude makes him all the more wonderful his unapologetic sense of self intimidates people, don't you wish you could be such a prick?!
